Jeannie Silvers, aka Firebird, is having trouble controlling her powers that seem to be changing quicker than she can keep up. With the responsibility of keeping the "cosmic fire" safe in her possession, any slip ups could be deadly for mass populations of unsuspecting victims. Recent visions of a villain named Destroyer have her distracted and short on sleep. She knows it's coming and she's even separated herself from her team to try and focus. Finally, the day of confrontation arrives. Destroyer is arrogant and can't fathom Firebird is in possession of the Cosmic Fire. It turns out he's on a quest to possess this very thing, and running into Firebird serves his purposes well. Firebird is incredibly strong and it looks as though the battle will be very one sided in her favor... until... Destroyer produces Firebird's weakness... Will she defend the Fire, or even defend herself?
